.. “Ninguem queria saber. Até me aconselharam a levar a Rosita para o matadouro.....Mas isso nunca. Ela não tem culpa.”

Depois da morte da minha égua Xandra, no ano passado, em abril 2022, comprei a Rosita, uma égua lusitana com cerca de 11 anos. Para poder montar ela e os meus outros 2 cavalos no campo e na mata. À primeira vista, uma égua super doce e calma, com um caráter suave. Olhar muito doce. Eu montei ela quando comprei, mas notei que ela estava nervosa, mas pensei que era porque somos estranhos. Em casa as coisas correram muito bem entre Rosita, Lara e Holly. Mas notei pequenas coisas com ela não estava acostumada, como comer feno e ração, fruta. Mas tambem havia coisas que ela tinha medo: entrar no estabulo, medo da vassoura. Percebemos que era um cavalo com um passado ruim, com traumas, não bem ensinada, sempre com muito ansiedade e medo. E não habituada de andar na estrada, com transito. Começou a praticar com ela com a guia no picadeiro. Mas tambem na rua. Sempre com sela e freio. Ela estava aprender bem. Só em Maio 2022, deu completamente errado ao querer montá-la. Depois de algumas voltas fáceis e calmas, ela de repente empinou e se deixou cair para trás, comigo ainda sobre ela. Felizmente acabou bem, embora eu não pudesse continuar com ela por 3 semanas e até hoje dores no joelho e....infelizmente com um sentimento de medo. Foi procurar ajuda, apoio, dicas com pessoas profissionais. ........mas sem resultado. Ninguem queria saber. Até me aconselharam a levar a Rosita para o matadouro.....Mas isso nunca. Ela não tem culpa.

Fui então à internet procurar informações sobre esse comportamento, ou ter feedback das pessoas com experiencias semelhantes com esse tipo de cavalo, etc. E, por acaso acabei no site da Conny e pensei em perguntar se ela tem alguma dica ou experiencia. E ela foi muito prestativa desde o início. Como a distância era muito grande para chegar até a Rosita pessoalmente, ela me deu conselhos e dicas online e comecei a trabalhar com isso. Tambem com ajuda das minhas amigas Laura e Maya.

Com Conny eu sinto que ela realmente entende os cavalos e tambem vê em cada cavalo com traumas ou dificuldades um chance de que tudo ficará bem. Nunca desistar e com muita paciência e amor pelos cavalos, continuar. E eu faço isso.

O conselho dela era trabalhar com o cavalo com muito calma, sem pressa e sem pressão. Rédeas longas, estribos longos, não exija muito, que continue divertido para o cavalo e o cavaleiro.

Então comecei a trabalhar e agora depois de um ano já há muitos progressos. Rosita já se sente muito mais calma na rua e com o trânsito. Ela já se sente muito melhor com alguem em cima dela, só estamos no ponto que ela ainda tem que estar acompanhada de alguém caminhando ao seu lado e .....pelo menos nas proximidades. Mas isso é por segurança, porque às vezes ela ainda tem momentos em que de repente entra em pânico e aí é dificil prever como ela vai reagir. Mas existe a esperança e fé de que um dia possamos cavalgá-la par fora sem esses medos. Temos tempo e paciência.

After the death of my mare Xandra, last year, in April 2022, I bought Rosita, a Lusitanian mare around 11 years old. To be able to ride her and my other 2 horses in the field and in the woods. At first glance, a super sweet and calm mare with a smooth character. Very sweet look. I rode her when I bought it but I noticed she was nervous but I thought it was because we are strangers. At home things went very well between Rosita, Lara and Holly. But I noticed little things she wasn't used to, like eating hay and feed, fruit. But there were also things she was afraid of: entering the stable, fear of the broom. We realized that it was a horse with a bad past, with traumas, not well taught, always with a lot of anxiety and fear.

And not used to walking on the road, with traffic. Started practicing with her on the leash in the ring. But also on the street. Always with saddle and bridle. She was learning well. Only in May 2022, it went completely wrong when wanting to mount it. After a few easy, leisurely turns, she suddenly reared up and dropped back, with me still on top of her. Fortunately it ended well, although I couldn't continue with it for 3 weeks and to this day pain in my knee and...unfortunately with a feeling of fear. Went to seek help, support, tips from professional people. ........but without result. Nobody wanted to know. They even advised me to take Rosita to the slaughterhouse.....But that never happened. She is not to blame.

So I went to the internet to look for information about this behavior, or to get feedback from people with similar experiences with this type of horse, etc. And, I happened to end up on Conny's website and thought I'd ask if she has any tips or

experience. And she was very helpful from the start. As the distance was too far to reach Rosita in person, she gave me advice and tips online and I started to work with it. Also with the help of my friends Laura and Maya.

With Conny I feel like she really understands horses and also sees in every horse with trauma or difficulties a chance that everything will be alright. Never give up and with a lot of patience and love for horses, keep going. And I do it.

Her advice was to work with the horse very calmly, without rushing and without pressure. Long reins, long stirrups, don't demand too much, keep it fun for horse and rider.

So I started working and now after a year there is already a lot of progress. Rosita already feels much calmer on the street and with traffic. She already feels much better with someone on top of her, we're just at the point where she still has to be accompanied by someone walking beside her and.....at least nearby. But that's just to be on the safe side, because sometimes she still has moments when she suddenly panics and then it's hard to predict how she's going to react. But there is hope and faith that one day we can ride it out without those fears. We have time and patience.

I am very grateful to Conny for her help, but also for her support, moving forward. Thank you for everything.
